Chief Financial Officer 

The individual is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial information, ensuring that all expenditure is within the limits of the approved budgets and in accordance with approved accounting policies and procedures. The individual is also responsible for the preparation of financial projections and cash budgets for the company, providing pertinent data to inform and guide the deliberations of the Board.

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced and mature, and self-motivated individual who possesses strong administrative skills, with well-developed communication skills, having the necessary professional training and aptitude, and a proven record of achievement. The successful candidate will apply the necessary skills to ensure the optimization of resources and the achievement of objectives and targets. The candidate should, of course, be highly computer literate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
  • Participate in the ongoing strategic planning process as an integral member of the senior management team.
  • Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans.
  • Develop financial and tax strategies.
  • Manage the capital request and budgeting processes.
  • Oversee the company's transaction processing systems.
  • Review and approve preparation and finalization of monthly and annual financial reporting.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow for administration
  • Assist the Managing Director on the organization’s financial, budgeting, and administrative processes with an eye to continuously developing and improving systems.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the Managing Director based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.

 Specialised Knowledge Requirements

  • Chartered Accountant (hence a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica).
  • Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standard for SME’s (IFRS for SME’s),
  • In-depth knowledge of Jamaica’s Taxation and Labour laws,
  • Extensive experience using computerised accounting software,
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment leading a team or senior audit participation would be ideal.
  • Also preferable is experience in a company listed on the stock exchange.
