Responsible for the planning and monitoring technical activities surrounding editing and filming and ensures that the quality of footage used In newscasts is maintained.

Job Function:

  1. Supervises the distribution of stories to the editors based on their expertise and availability, to ensure timely completion and quality output.
  2. Ensures all elements, e.g. cover video/soundbites, etc are made available to the editors in a timely manner.
  3. Downloads and edits raw footage for the editors from various sources, e.g. FTP/ M-series/WeTransfer
  4. Monitors rundown for unedited stories by reviewing the list of planned news stories and determining which ones still require editing before the newscast.
  5. Uses a variety of methods to accurately time newscasts, including script timing software, timing sheets, countdown clocks, stopwatches, and experience to ensure that the newscast runs smoothly and stays within the allotted time.
  6. Communicates with the director and production team regarding flow of the newscast to ensure that the broadcast runs smoothly and meets the established timelines and standards.
  7. Liaises with engineering on any technical problems to address any issues that may arise during the production process and ensure that the newscast is broadcast without any technical difficulties.
  8. Works with director and production team on any live news or current affairs programmes
  9. Communicate with Master Control on all live and news productions to ensure that the broadcast is accurately and effectively transmitted to the audience, without any technical errors or interruptions.
  10. Ensures adherence to broadcast style guide to maintain consistency and professionalism across all aspects of the newscast, from the on-air presentation to the graphics and captions.
  11. Supports the development and maintenance of a team environment by fostering open communication, providing constructive feedback, and encouraging collaboration among team members.
  12. Executes any other related duties as assigned.

 

Education:     

-      Bachelor's degree in media production, audio engineering, or broadcasting

-      Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate Level)

 

                    

Experience:  

-      Minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Technical Producer or in a similar technical role.

-      Experience working in a live broadcast environment required.

-      Experience with both radio and television production preferred.

-      Experience using with audio mixing software, camera equipment, lighting equipment, and other technical tools.
