Producer - Freelance

Responsible for preparing and presenting factual news stories to our viewing and listening public. The incumbent maintains the integrity of the product at all times and ensures credibility.

Job Function:

1. Researches, gathers and verifies factual information to plan, write, edit and voice news broadcasts.
2. Monitors multiple sources for breaking news and creates content.
3. Collaborate effectively with a wide range of personnel to generate story ideas and create compelling content.
4. Maintain crucial deadlines to facilitate delivery of news content at prescribed times.
5. Pre-packages content from journalists to assist with producing field reports for newscasts.
6. Produce features and interviews as needed.
7. Alert Executive Producer to breaking news and be ready to file accurate, immediate on the spot reports.
8. Participate in editorial meetings.
9. Work with Executive Producer to develop and execute policies and strategies and works with other members of the department to generate ideas to engage the audience.
10. Maintain regular communication with the Assignment Editor or designated individual while on assignment.
11. Adheres to established guidelines and works in compliance with editorial guidelines and organization policies and procedures.
12. Collaborates with reporters, photographers, assignment editors, anchors, and production teams to meet strategic content and brand objectives.
13. Produce live, on-location broadcasts when necessary.
14. Operate studio equipment and relevant recording equipment as required.
15. Executes any other related duties as assigned.

Education:     

-      A Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, Fine Arts, Media Studies or a related field from an accredited                 college/university

-      Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate Level)

-      Recognized certificate in Media Production or Broadcasting

Experience:  

-      A minimum of four (4) years’ experience in producing television programs.

-      A minimum of two (2) years’ supervisory experience.

-      Previous experience producing and directing a variety of television broadcast programs.
