A dynamic Organisation within Port of Spain is seeking to hire a Dean, Academic and Student Affairs

The successful candidate will be required to plan and manage all academic and student support programmes at the main campus as well as online. He/She, through effective policy and decision making, demonstrates commitment to students in achieving their diverse educational goals.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as a member of the leadership team and participate in establishing and achieving institutional goals in accordance with the strategic plan;
  •  Leads the planning, evaluation, implementation and assessment of academic and student affairs programs;
  • Directs the development of short and long- range plans for all academic and student affairs functions;
  • Gathers and interprets data to determine the programme needs of the community and advise the Head of Department and management staff on new programmes and facilities  that will help the Academy serve its students to achieve  the desired efficacy;
  • Evaluates studies of curricula  and student affairs programs, recommends action based on the outcome of such assessment and monitors the effectiveness of such action;
  • Recommends the revision or elimination of academic programs, courses and /or student activities to meet the needs of the region;
  • Participates in the operation of advisory groups for academic and student programmes
  • Prepares (or supervise preparation of) materials needed for consideration of new curricula;
  • Facilitates the resolution of grievances, academic, personal and disciplinary issues through established academy procedures;
  • Develops and supports for the academic and student support programs among stakeholders;
  • Performs any other related duties as required.

 

Knowledge and Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge in curriculum design, course and syllabus development;
  • Knowledge of Training and Research methodologies;
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suite;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Strong leadership and decision making skills;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Methodical in the execution of duties;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to details are a fundamental requirement;
  • Ability to communicate (written and orally) effectively.

Qualification and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Education/Training and Development;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Education or related discipline;
  • Four (4) to six (6) years  teaching experience inclusive of experience in Training and Academic Administration;
  • At least three (3) years higher education management/supervisory experience.
