Chief Information Officer

A fast growing and profitable company that is listed on the Jamaican Stock Exchange with subsidiaries in the Caribbean and Africa is looking to hire an experienced Chief Information Officer to join its Executive Management Team. This senior position will be responsible for directing the IT functions of the company and will play an integral role in providing strategic IT input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the company.

Roles and Responsibilities

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

Strategy & Business Transformation

  • Oversee and manage all strategic and operational governance processes of the Group to ensure current and future needs are met.
  • Lead IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain an appropriate IT organizational structure that supports the current and future needs of the business.
  • Establish IT departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT systems and resources, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and in-house development.
  • Assess and communicate risks associated with IT investments.
  • Assess and make recommendations on the improvement or re-engineering of the IT organization.

Information Systems Strategic Planning

  • Develop and lead implementation of appropriate IT strategy for the delivery of IS services on a shared basis which will allow the Group and its subsidiaries to be flexible and pro-active in their markets and support its position as market leader.
  • Ensure defined short, medium and long term Information Systems goals and initiatives are aligned with business goals and to emerging technology trends
  • Direct development and execution of an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan.
  • Managing the organization's software development needs.
  • Developing and implementing IT services framework and IT security policies for the group.

Operational Management

  • Maintain oversight of all IT projects, ensuring that commitments are properly planned, staffed, monitored and reported.
  • Ensure continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of IT systems performance.
    • Ensure IT system operation adheres to applicable laws and regulations.
    • Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and prices. Advise, counsel, and educate executives and management on their competitive or financial impact.
    • Promote and oversee strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities, including government, vendors, and partner organizations.
    • Develop and overseeing relationships with vendors, contractors and service providers.
    • Supervise recruitment, development, retention, and organization of all IT staff in accordance with corporate budgetary objectives and personnel policies.
    • Ensure operational and service metrics (KPIs) are developed and deployed to measure quality of service, effectiveness of technologies, ease of use and overall impact of IT on the business
    • Monitor the industry for developments in IT operations and business applications; evaluates and implements relevant new tools and service management frameworks for IT and recommends new business applications to Line of Business/Shared Services leaders.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management or a related field with a major in Computing or IT
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Minimum of ten 10 to twelve (12) years’ experience with 8 to 10 years’ in a senior management position in technology with well-rounded experience in positions of increasing responsibility, managing and/or directing on IT operation with a focus on a strategic.
