Production Superintendent, Packaging (National Flour Mills)

Our Client, National Flour Mills (NFM), is seeking to fill the position of Production Superintendent, Packaging.

JOB SUMMARY

The Production Superintendent, Packaging (PSP) is responsible for ensuring that the packaging of various products is safe and cost-effective. This is accomplished by supervising, controlling, and coordinating Packaging Department operations staff. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that predetermined outputs from the company's food lines are packaged and pre-stored according to both company and consumer specifications. The incumbent is also in charge of Supervising, regulating, and coordinating production operatives who are responsible for the packaging and pre-storage process in order to achieve desired results and ensure that packaged products are delivered to the warehouse and distribution satisfactorily. The incumbent is accountable to the Manager, Food Production.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plans, supervises, and coordinates the packaging.
• Supervises all of the integrated processes necessary for the packaging of food products, ensuring that both company and customer specifications are met.
• Continuously monitors the packaging processes, performing visual inspections of machinery to ensure its smooth operation.
• Ensures compliance with stringent quality control standards in accordance with quality management requirements.
• Establishes, in collaboration with the Plant Superintendent - Mechanical and Electrical,  procedures and schedules for the routine inspection and maintenance of packaging machinery and equipment.
• Ensures compliance with all health, safety, and environmental considerations are adhere to.
• Coordinates all scheduled packaging equipment overhauls so as to minimize packaging equipment downtime.
• Contributes to the preparation of annual departmental budgets and operating plans.
• Coordinates all of the necessary resource requirements for the quality delivery of all of the Flour Mill's packaging outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Food production/Mechanical/Electrical/Agricultural Engineering
• Diploma in Process Plant Operations.
• Seven (7) years of proven experience in a production environment including least three (3) years in a Supervisory position or comparable role.
• Relevant combination of qualifications and experience will be considered
• Strong communications skills verbal and written.
• Strong Analytical skills
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Extensive understanding of product-packaging issues.
• Knowledge of and adherence to HSE in a production setting.
