MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent performs tasks such as general ledger account analysis and reconciliations, preparing and processing journal entries, intercompany billings, and preparation of monthly financial statements.:

  •  Assist with the preparation of the financial Statements by completing assigned schedules and variance analysis 
  • Prepare bank and broker reconciliation on a daily/monthly basis. Analyse the underlying transactions and prepare the relevant journal entries in a timely manner to correct all errors/omissions. Ensure that all relevant transactions are recorded in the General Ledger (GL) and sub-ledger accounts in a timely manner 
  • Analyse the underlying transactions of relevant expense accounts, reconcile these accounts to the GL and prepare the relevant schedules and submit for review on a monthly/quarterly basis. 
  • Preparation of Weekly Position reports. 
  • Assist with the filing and timely payment of all tax returns including GCT, payroll taxes, asset tax, and withholding tax 
  • Prepare Branch and Cost Centre financials as assigned 
  • Prepare subledger recon for products including investments, loans and equity. 
  • Supports the team’s efforts to meet deadlines while maintaining quality 
  • Works with other departments and management regarding processes and procedures; 
  • Ad-hoc analysis based on the requirements of management and Group 
  • Any other duties that may be assigned

 

REQUISITE COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Sound analytical, problem solving and investigative skill
  • Sound knowledge of computerized accounting and spreadsheet packages
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formaExcellent time management skills
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Sound negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Knowledge and use of office productivity tools (MS Office, etc.)

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/ Management Studies or equivalent
  • Pursuing ACCA level II /CPA/MSc Accounting
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in a similar capacity;
  • Experience in financial services industry will be an advantage;
  • In depth knowledge of financial reporting systems
