Financial Controller

The Financial Controller will be responsible for a variety of financial and operational accounting functions as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

FINANCE:

  • Preparation of Annual Plans, gathering data for banks, cash flow projections, Capital Investment proposals and tender worksheets.
  • Ensuring that all books and records (including the General Ledger and Sub Ledgers) of the hotel are correctly and properly maintained in accordance with international Accounting Standards and Corporate Policies.
  • Accurate and timely preparation of Monthly Management Reports (Financials) and other related Reports (e. g monthly reconciliations) by the 10th of the following month.
  • Accurate and timely processing of payroll.
  • Preparation/reviewing of Monthly Journal Vouchers ensuring adequate explanation and supporting documents.
  • Ensuring all monthly reconciliations Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory- Bar, Stores and Fixed Assets Sub-Ledgers to the General Ledger etc. are done' accurately on a timely basis and required adjusting Journal entries are done.
  • Accurate and timely updating between Room Master and Dynamics SL.
  • Control over Hotel Collections to minimize bad debt risk.
  • Oversight of Account Receivables ensuring timely and accurate billings.
  • Preparation, of monthly bank reconciliations ensuring that all required adjusting of Journals are done accurately on a timely basis- 15th of the next month.
  • Ensuring required audit schedules are prepared by six weeks after year- end date.
  • Working with external auditors to complete audits within set timeframes.
  • Ensuring effective internal control environment.
  • Ensuring that proper “back- up” of data and program files is completed on a scheduled basis.
  • Preparation of annual tax returns for submission to tax authorities within set timeframes.
  • Control of petty cash floats.
  • Inventory control- ensuring proper control over storage, movement of inventory.
  • Full responsibility of transaction for accounting unit.
  • Participation to Duty Manager Roster.

QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of three (3) years working experience as a Financial Controller,preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Must be fully qualified, as a Chartered Accountant by ACCA.
  • Knowledge in the following software- Excel, PowerPoint, Rio Point of Sale, TT Pay, Sun Accounting Software.
  • Detail oriented with the drive to complete tasks within given deadlines.
  • Self –Starter with the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and leadership skills.
  • Can interpret and follow instructions, determine obstacles in advance, and offer solutions as required.
  • Be solution oriented and be a problem solver.
