LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

LABORATORY TECHNICIAN - CHEMISTRY

The incumbent will support laboratory operations and complete routine laboratory tests and procedures.

 EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

• Laboratory Technician Certificate or Diploma
• High School Certificate
• Competence in Microsoft Office Software

EXPERIENCE

• Three (3) years of experience in a similar or related field.

 REQUIRED SKILLS AND SPECIALISED TECHNIQUES

• Training in laboratory techniques
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to perform in a multi-disciplinary area.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                                                            

• Performs procedures and methodologies as outlined in the department’s Quality Management System.
• Registers incoming samples in the sample logbook and the MIS Reporting System; subcontracts them where necessary.
• Prepares and standardizes reagents and media as requested
  • Performs calculations from raw data and enters final results on technical reports.
  • Disposes of samples whose analyses have been complete in keeping with established procedures.
  • Preserve incoming samples in keeping with work instructions.
