Job Description

 

This is a contract position of 12 months.

 

Purpose

 

The role is to drive the development and delivery of integrated engineering solutions for projects by liaising with project, developments and asset operations teams and by ensuring the appropriate discipline engineering involvement / integration throughout all project phases. The incumbent will work with teams in all phases to ensure the safe, ‘no defects’ delivery of cost and carbon competitive projects.

The EL will report to the Engineering Manager for IG Projects, Americas (EM-IGA). The EL leads a team of TA2 discipline engineers that provide engineering support and assurance.

The EL will perform a specific role in the leadership, interface integration across the brownfield opportunities, and assurance of engineering activity and deliverables. This will include secondary support to project teams, operations, and construction. In performing this function, the EL will support the EPCm and Construction Contract Holder(s) in driving the quality and timely delivery of engineering deliverables, monitor/assure that the capability of their engineering team is matched to the workload, and monitor/assure their coordination of engineering support across the Trinidad portfolio.

 

Accountabilities

  • Leads the delivery of efficient integrated design solutions across project interfaces.
  • Accountable for efficiency, productivity, and continuity of discipline engineering in both owner and contractor’s teams with no change mindset.
  • Accountable for the Design of the Facilities and the translation of Standards into specific fit for purpose engineering requirements via application of the Systems Engineering approach (i.e. creation of PSTS and complementary Verification strategies) for the EPC and suppliers
  • Drive deployment and de-risking of engineering technologies where value is added
  • Promoting Lean Team delivery and active Performance Management of EPCm contractor and a “no defects” quality mind-set in both Owners and Contractors teams
  • Shape a culture of safe behaviors and practices throughout the project phases and with all project stakeholders, and be the visible champion of ensuring Owner and particularly Contractor engineering teams have a Safety in Design mindset that is carried throughout the DEFINE & EXECUTE phases of projects
  • Facilitate the inclusion and development of Construction Safety in Design and efficient execution in conjunction with Project Construction Managers and Leads
  • Work closely with the PM’s, to drive competitiveness of project execution by providing focused engineering support based on fit for purpose engineering requirements.
  • Ensure, via appropriate degree/frequency of verification, that deliverables associated with EPCm Engineering discipline meet minimum safety, technical and quality requirements and that risks are managed in a cost-effective way within forecasted budgets. Contribute to project reporting and business planning activities in relation to all discipline engineering activities
  • Perform role of technical authority for technical Management of Change; supporting Project Manager and MOC Panel in the evaluation and approval/rejection of MOC’s
  • Implement strategies to enable effective engineering, including standard processes and tools, commercial strategies, assurance/quality processes and ensuring appropriate aspects of CLIENT’s IT/IM initiatives are deployed and used efficiently by EPC contractors.

 

Role requires a highly developed HSSE and quality mindset, technical proficiency, commercial awareness, strong leadership attributes and the ability to communicate well at all levels internally and externally, with staff, contractors and 3rd parties.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum B.S. Engineering Degree required in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Chemical engineering
  • Seasoned Engineering professional with minimum 15 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry and with experience in integrating and managing multi-discipline teams serving a range of Portfolio opportunities (in terms of both scale and complexity)
  • Exposure in pre-DG3 and project execution would be an advantage.
  • Prior experience as a technical authority (TA2) and in supervising a group of technical professionals in a project environment is required
  • Prior experience of engineering management function in a complex, brownfield environment, ideally in offshore locations, will be of significant advantage
  • Working experience in project site and/or operating IG Assets will be a significant advantage as well as prior exposure to the IG business.

· Strong in communications, consensus building across a diverse team, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills to develop trust and credibility among varied interfaces.
