Assistant Finance Manager

Overview

The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the financial related tasks and compliance with mandatory and commercial requirements. The incumbent’s responsibilities include functions under purchases and payables, treasury, taxation, revenue and receivables, payroll, inventory and costing, month end close and internal reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities

Inventory & Costing

  1. Prepare costings for imports of raw materials and finished goods
  2. Review variances and reconcile finished goods stock monthly
  3. Produce monthly and quarterly stock variance reports

Payroll

  1. Process fortnightly and monthly payroll and maintain payroll files
  2. Ensure that all statutory requirements are dealt with under the Tax Act and all salary deductions are done

Accounts Payable

 

  1. Ensure bills are approved in conjunction with the approval levels prior to posting and paying
  2. Prepare monthly reconciliation for accounts payable
  3. Reconcile allowances reports to the respective subledgers
  4. Review bills posted to ensure accuracy
  5. Update weekly reports with detailed listing of payables
  6. Prepare journal entries to update subledger as needed

Treasury & Cash

  1. Reconcile cash and bank accounts on a weekly and monthly basis

Reporting & Month End Close

  1. Assist in budget preparation
  2. Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports
  3. Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly
  4. File statutory returns monthly
  5. Follow up with government departments for Certificate of Good Standing
  6. Follow up with government departments for outstanding Tax Withholding Certificates
  7. Follow up with government departments for Tax Compliance Certificate
  8. Reconcile annual reports to the respective departments

General & Supervisory

  1. Undertakes direct responsibilities in all administrative departments due to absenteeism
  2. Assist in the management of the performance and development of team members
  3. Set an example for team members of commitment, financial activities, work ethics and habits and personal character
  4. Report problems or discrepancies to management in a timely manner
  5. Prepare weekly reports of progress and updates
  6. Any other duties assigned

Qualifications

-          Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
-          Five years’ experience in the Accounting field
-          Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
-          Knowledge of IFRS and financial/ERP systems
-          A good understanding of statutory obligations and requirements
