Background
Profiles Caribbean Inc. is working collaboratively with our client to recruit a Principal for a school in Barbados. The Principal will have responsibility for leading and supervising of all faculty and staff for both teaching and non-teaching positions. It is a full time position and reports directly to the Board of Directors.
Role Summary
The school Principal/Head serves as the educational leader and is responsible for managing and developing policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe environment that meets the approved vision, mission, curricula, and philosophy of the school.
The Principal/Head will be required to work collaboratively with all members of the school’s staff to achieve the level of academic excellence defined by the school’s strategic plan. He/she will also have responsibility for scheduling, curriculum development, extracurricular activities, personnel management, emergency procedures, facility operations and effective communication with all stakeholders including parents.
Duties and Responsibilities Summary
- Serve as chief spokesperson for the school and to oversee the planning, organization, and implementation of strategies to promote and market the school.
- Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate performance of faculty and staff.
- Conduct periodic audits of instructional programmes.
- Plan and organize strategies for keeping current with educational innovation and improvement in line with school's mission.
- Recommend compensation including salaries and benefits.
- Ensure the maintenance of a healthy and safe school and educational environment.
- Facilitate the development and maintenance of programs for professional growth and development for all employee positions.
- Manage the performance evaluation process.
- Enforce the school's by-Laws, regulations, and policies.
- Build strong relationships with businesses and corporations which will result in support for the school.
- Ensure positive and productive educational and spiritual development of students.
- Lead, plan, and organize strategies for keeping current with educational innovation and improvement in line with school's mission.
- Manage and direct the strategic development of the school and facilities based on current enrollment and projected growth.
- Manage procurement to support the programs of the school.
- Manage the relationship with architects, contractors, vendors and other professionals re: facilities maintenance and upgrades.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements
- Master's Degree
- Diploma in Education
- Leadership qualifications
