ORGANISATIONAL OBJECTIVES
The incumbent will be required to:
- provide strategic management, technical leadership and direction of major operations, including:
– Insurance Operations;
– Investments; and,
– Policy, Planning & Actuarial Services Teams,
to ensure efficient management of the Business Units' operations and the achievement of annual targets;
- implement, monitor & evaluate the growth and development strategies of the organization;
- support the Executive Director in exceeding corporate targets, working as a key member of the organisation's Strategic Team; and,
- assist the Executive Director with the development, implementation and monitoring & evaluation of the ORGANIZATION’s Vision.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
The incumbent will be required to:
People Leadership
- develop and lead optimally performing core operations teams with the required skills and competencies to function efficiently and effectively while meeting established deliverables;
- implement relevant Policies, Procedures and Instructions required to manage and monitor & evaluate the performance of immediate subordinate staff, inclusive of Coaching, Mentoring and Training; and, report findings related to each Business Unit to the Executive Director
- chair the Mark to Market Investment Committee
Strategic Management
- ensure that Policies, Procedures and Standards relating to major operations are developed implemented, and monitored & evaluated accordingly;
- ensure that the Organization’s funding needs are continuously under review;
- oversee and contribute to, as a member of the Strategic Team, the development of the organization’s plans and programs oversee the information and generation of the Organization Strategic Plan, Departmental Operational Plans, and Business Services Budget
- provide advice to the Board of Directors, Executive Director and Executive Managers within Business Services;
- facilitate and encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the Business Services Business Unit;
- represent the Organization or Executive Director on external Boards and Committees as assigned
- provide monthly, quarterly, annual and special reports as requested by the Executive Director.
- share strategic leadership responsibilities with the Executive Director and Management ensuring that the support functions, supports the Organization at the Strategic and Operational Levels.
- perform other related duties as requested by the Executive Director.
General Management
- oversee the conduct of Actuarial Reviews as requested by the Board of Directors
- oversee Employer Compliance and the implementation of strategies to maximize income collection.
- provide advice to the Board of Directors, Executive Director, and Executive Managers within Business Services.
- provide direction to the Executive Manager Insurance Operations in the implementation and delivery of social insurance products and services; and to the Executive Manager Investments in the execution of prudent fund management.
- oversee, monitor and evaluate the: strategic implementation; and, operational maintenance of Customer Relationship Management Principles & Practices to achieve Customer Satisfaction.
- deliver presentations to the Board of Directors, Executive Director, Management and other stakeholders as requested or required.
- represent the Organization or Executive Director on internal committees as assigned
- engage in stakeholder awareness activity required to educate the National Public on matters related to the National Insurance System
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
- REQUIRED: Master’s Degree in Finance or Business Administration related discipline from a recognized university
- DESIRED: Certification in Change Management from an accredited educational institution
- DESIRED: Membership in a recognized Professional Body (e.g. Chartered Financial Analyst or Fellow of Society of Actuaries etc.)
EXPERIENTIAL REQUIREMENT
- A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience as a Corporate Leader overseeing and growing the Core Business Functions of a large Financial or Insurance organization.
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
