The Retail Store (Dispensary) Manager is primarily responsible for the effective performance management and execution of retail operations at a designated dispensary location, including merchandising, staffing and patient order fulfilment processes.

We are looking for a results driven Retail Store Manager to be responsible for the overall store management of our Dispensary. The successful candidate will be able to enhance customer satisfaction, meet sales and profitability goals and manage staff effectively. The Retail Store (Dispensary) Manager must be able to drive the successful business management and financial performance of the dispensary. 

S/he oversees the operations of the Dispensary according to established policies and procedures while managing all strategies and tasks related to operations, security, cash management, sales, marketing, and public relations. The ideal candidate is ultimately responsible for overall Dispensary appearance, cleanliness, comfort, functionality, safety, security, and overall customer experience and must have a combination of retail management experience and qualifications to accomplish the day-to-day requirements of the position.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Responsible for managing assigned dispensary in a manner that supports the organisation’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
  • Hire, train, schedule and manage staff at the dispensary to achieve established standards, sales, and profit objectives, as well as customer satisfaction by ensuring that all deadlines are met and taking accountability for its completion.
  • Drive a culture of positive employee engagement, focusing strongly on inclusion & diversity.
  • Develop, coach, and consistently execute Jacana’s service standards. Ensure consistent execution of steps of service by using tools such as weekly and monthly staff meetings and customer feedback. Constantly working to improve standards and customer satisfaction at assigned location.
  • Actively manage inventory, recalls, customer service complaints and pricing to meet cost and sales targets.
  • Effectively manage cash management and financial reporting procedures at the Dispensary by ensuring the Point-of-Sale register, cash vault, bank logs, inventory and deposits are accurate and executed according to established operating procedures.
  • Effectively manage service labour (Doctors, cleaners, etc.), scheduling and payroll.
  • Maintain a general awareness of cannabis and retail trends to help create innovative and adaptive strategies.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance and Regional Retail Managers to meet all regulatory requirements. Correct all violations, non-conformance, and non-compliance with a sense of urgency.
  • Ensure that there is an open line of communication with all other support team members (finance, marketing, HR, production) to guarantee all standard operating procedures are adhered to and attained.
  • Promote open feedback from retail staff, medical professional team, and marketing department.
  • Ensures proper management of pre-packaged inventory and inventory movement between the vault and dispensing stations.
  • Communicate product inventory reordering needs in a timely manner to avoid out of stock conditions and verify order deliveries for accuracy.
  • Oversee nightly audits and check-off, as well as ad hoc audits for accountability and verification of all inventory items.
  • Partners with the Human Resources in writing appraisals and executing disciplinary actions when required.
  • Planning & coordination of marketing executions and company sponsored events.
  • Any other reasonable related duties that may be assigned.

 

SPECIFIC SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND TECHNIQUES REQUIRED

  • Must be proactive, with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and strong negotiation and leadership skills.
  • Meet timelines consistently and be able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Continuously open to constructive, developmental feedback.
  • High level of interpersonal skills in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, often working cross functionally.
  • Must be flexible regarding work schedule and willing to work 5-6 days per week, including evenings and weekends and to include the opening and closing of shifts.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed performance goals and sales targets. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills, experience using point-of-sales, inventory tracking and knowledge of customer management processes 

QUALIFICATIONS:              

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or related areas.
  • 3+ years in a supervisory or management role in a retail setting required - preference for cannabis industry exposure.
  • Inventory control experience required.
  • Knowledgeable of the St. Ann area.
  • Supervisory and team-building skills.
  • Ability to pass all required background checks to work with cannabis.
