COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT OFFICER

The Leap Co is pleased to invite applicants for the following positions to provide support with the implementation of a national Social Transformation and Renewal (STAR) project aimed at reshaping outcomes for Jamaica’s communities.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT OFFICER

The Community Development Project Officer will design, deliver and manage important relationships within specific communities for the successful execution of Project STAR. In addition, the Community Development Project Officer will carry out the planning and provide support for the implementation of the range of social initiatives, as determined by the community and the STAR project. The ideal candidate should be competent in administration, project planning, facilitating consultative processes with diverse stakeholder groups, as well as managing execution across a range of activities.

This post requires that candidate reside within or in close proximity to the targeted community of Clarendon to which they are applying. .

SPECIFIC DUTIES WILL INCLUDE

I. Alongside the Senior Technical Project Officer, drive the community intervention teams towards achievement of project goals;

II. Prepare technical project documents such as workplans and implementation schedules in close consultation with the Project Director and other key partners;

III. Oversee training and capacity building programmes for the community and provide direction and support;

IV. Perform site visitsto evaluate and support partner performance, identify weaknesses and strengths, assist with outreach plans, provide technical assistance and training where required;

V. Identify issues of concerns emerging from partner reports for programmatic purposes;

VI. Engage stakeholders on an ongoing basis to maintain the partnerships in the assigned community;

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

I. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Science, International Development, Economic Development, Social Work, Psychology, Education or related field.

II. At Least five (5) years of relevant work experience in social development projects led by public sector, civil society or international development organizations.

III. Demonstrated ability in liaising and cooperating with government officials, NGOs, community groups.

IV. Previous working experience with multilateral funding supported projects would be an asset.

V. Adept in the use of Project Management Software such as ASANA or Zoho One.

VI. Ability to work well with at risk, vulnerable populations.
