JOB PURPOSE:     

                                                                                                                        

  • To facilitate the improved operation and efficiency of the Merchandize Department by helping to improve the customer experience and satisfaction by Champion Industrial Equipment & Supplies Limited. where required.

                                                                                            

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:      

 

The Merchandising Officer plays a crucial role in managing the merchandising activities of a company. This position involves overseeing the distribution of merchandise to ensure optimal inventory levels, timely delivery, and customer satisfaction. The Merchandising Officer collaborates with various teams,  procurement, and sales, to achieve merchandising goals and drive business growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

 

  • Merchandise Planning and Strategy
  1.                                  i.            Develop merchandise plans and strategies aligned with overall company objectives.
  2.                                ii.            Analyze market trends, customer demand, and sales data to identify product opportunities and make informed merchandising decisions.
  3.                               iii.            Conduct competitor analysis to stay informed about market trends, pricing, and assortment strategies.
  4.                                  i.            Identify and source reliable suppliers and manufacturers for merchandise production.
  5.                                ii.            Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
  6.                               iii.            Collaborate with design and production teams to develop new products and improve existing ones, considering quality, cost, and market trends.
  7.                               i.            Plan and forecast inventory levels based on sales trends, seasonality, and promotional activities.
  8.                              ii.            Monitor stock levels, conduct regular inventory audits, and implement strategies to minimize stockouts and overstock situations.
  9.                            iii.            Coordinate with the procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of merchandise.
  • Product Sourcing and Development:

  • Sales and Performance Analysis

 

  1.                          i.            Analyze sales data, product performance, and customer feedback to evaluate the success of merchandising strategies.
  2.                         ii.            Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend pricing, assortment, and promotional strategies to drive sales and profitability.
  3.                       iii.             Collaborate with the sales team to provide product knowledge, training, and support for effective merchandising execution.

 

 

  • Supplier and Vendor Management

 

  1.                                  i.            Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, ensuring open communication and prompt resolution of any issues.
  2.                                ii.            Conduct regular supplier evaluations to assess performance, quality, and reliability.
  3.                               iii.            Continuously seek new suppliers and vendors to expand product offerings and improve competitiveness.

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, merchandising, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in merchandising, preferably in a retail or consumer goods environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems and merchandising software is desirable.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • Understanding of retail operations, supply chain management, and product lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with sourcing and production processes for various merchandise categories.
