The Customer Service and Billing Officer is responsible for carrying out all billing and collection functions. The Customer Service & Billing Officer will be responsible for maintaining detailed financial records to aid in the reporting and decision-making process.

Requirements:

  •  The ideal candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Health Care  Administration
  • At least three (3) years’ working experience in a similar position
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite (Excel) and Accountng softwares such as QuickBooks
  • Customer Service Training or prior work experience
  • Must be able to work flexible hours

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Checking eligibility and benefits verification for treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures
  • Obtaining referrals and pre-authorizations as required for procedures
  • Reviewing patient bills for accuracy and completeness, and obtaining any missing information
  • Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing
  • Following up on unpaid claims within a standard billing timeframe
  • Checking each insured payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount
  • Calling insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary
  • Identifying and billing secondary or tertiary insurances
  • Reviewing accounts for insurance of patient follow-up
  • Researching and appealing denied claims
  • Answering all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.
  • Setting up patient payment plans and work collection accounts.
  • Updating billing software with rate changes
  • Updating cash spreadsheets, and running collection reports
  • Answer and respond to telephone calls and escalating matters as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
