SUSTAINABILITY SPECIALIST-ESG

Applications are invited from persons with suitable qualifications to fill the position of “Sustainability Specialist-ESG” at Republic Bank Limited.

The job holder is responsible for:

Coordinating the action activities stated in RFHL’s ESG Policy Framework and Guidance Document. Assisting the Senior Manager – Group Sustainability in developing comprehensive implementation plans, guided by the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)s, set out in the ESG Policy Framework, ensuring that ESG is mainstreamed as a strategic imperative at RFHL. The SP-ESG is also responsible for providing relevant training and coordination strategies to optimize the Group’s Sustainability/ESG Strategy and leading RFHL’s ESG reporting and disclosure requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Being the primary coordinator for the Group Sustainability Council (GSC) on specific Group ESG issues including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and issues including but not limited to all ESG relevant Group Marketing strategies such as Power to Make a Difference (PMAD), Marketing and Branding strategies and CSR and Philanthropy.

• Coordinating the activities of the GSC such as coordinating all quarterly meetings, inclusive of agendas and minutes, and maintaining a solid understanding of the Terms of Reference (ToR).

• Recommending training and awareness opportunities for the GSC and developing communication systems to foster effective information sharing throughout the GSC.

• Setting up communication and feedback systems for all relevant internal and external stakeholders necessary for ESG mainstreaming at RFHL.

• Representing GSU on relevant ESG Group internal environmental initiatives such as waste resource circularity, sustainable building options, sustainable procurement, water and energy use reduction, specialist units, special projects. This will include researching, preparing and presenting all materials.

• Developing and maintaining a solid knowledge of RFHL’s Policy Framework/Guidance Document, which provides the blueprint for ESG mainstreaming at the Group.

• Formalizing communication channels to inform relevant stakeholder regarding the Document and ongoing updates.

• Researching, preparing and presenting technical documents for the GSU and GSC.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Associate degree in Sustainability Studies, Environmental Studies/Science/Management Developmental Studies, Corporate Governance, Legal and Policy Studies or any relevant combination or closely related field.

• Minimum five (5) years’ experience coordinating multiple, technically based sustainability projects

• Sound knowledge in sustainability themes: Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG), Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs), United Nations Environment Programme Finance (UNEPFI), Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI)

• Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite

• Sound Presentation Written and Oral Communication skills

Undergraduate degree in Sustainability Studies, Environmental Studies/Science/Management Developmental Studies, Corporate Governance, Legal and Policy Studies would be an asset.
