Position Purpose

This job creates the Island Grill experience, by ensuring all customers receive quality food consistently. The Kitchen Supervisor (KS) is responsible for preparing core products as well as managing kitchen operations and food production by supervising, directing and coaching our Team during the shift.

This position oversees the cleaning and maintenance of equipment and facilities and ensures that all health and safety regulations are adhered to, sets and maintains pace of the kitchen and service lines. Additionally, also support the development of talent to create the “A” team within our restaurants.   

Key Responsibilities:

1.             Delights customers with great Island food and service

  • Is a role model that represents an image and work style reflective of Island Grill’s values
  • Coaches to encourage learning, positive feedback and confront performance issues
  • Responds appropriately to coaching from others to raise performance
  • Responsible for managing food quality, production and health standards
  • Cooks core products to standard
  • Responsible for food ordering and managing inventory

2.             Maintains quality restaurant operations

  • Manages administrative duties for the kitchen area regarding key item inventory, waste, pars, & production schedule
  • Promotes food safety and QSC with training and coaching
  • Follows & directs others to follow restaurant policies and procedures for operational flow at each workstation
  • Follows & directs others to follow standards for stocking, rotating and storing all products
  • Proactively communicates appropriate inventory levels
  • Proactively communicates the right people for the right position for the kitchen area
  • Performs & directs others to follow cleaning tasks in accordance with the duty rosters & cleaning standards
  • Emphasizes safety & security awareness ensuring employees are properly trained to create safe situations
  • Communicates important information to both Team Members and the management team

3.             Contributes to our efficiency and profitability

  • Maintains our production and par reports
  • Demonstrates awareness and understanding of the Company’s food and labor cost objectives by communicating issues regarding waste, portioning, yields, scheduling among others
  • Follows inventory stocking and recording guidelines
  • Immediately communicates equipment problems & practices good preventative maintenance on store assets
  • Depending on the needs of the business and or department may complete other duties as assigned to advance a particular project or resolve a business issue

To be successful as a Kitchen Supervisor, we expect you to possess:

  • NVQJ Level 3 Commercial Food Preparation.
  • Minimum one (1) year in Quick Service Restaurant (QSR).
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow directions both written and verbal.
  • Presents a professional image in appearance, words and actions.
