 HOUSEKEEPING MANAGER (Hospitality Sector)

 

Our client is one of the longest established hotels in Barbados with an excellent reptation for customer service, leading to a high number of repeat visitors annually.

 

Following development of a new luxury location, they are urgently seeking to appoint a Housekeeping Manager to be responsible for overseeing the proper and smooth operation of multiple locations.  The successful applicant will monitor all aspects of employee activities to ensure the highest quality in cleanliness and service.

 

Primary Functions:

 

  • Uphold the Company Mission, Vision and Core Values to support the team of Housekeeping personnel
  • Ensure standards of cleanliness are met in all areas of both Hotels.
  • Conduct  training and re-training of all housekeeping staff
  • Manage department purchasing, maintaining consistent availability of all cleaning products, machinery, amenities, etc.
  • Establish new standards to provide guests with the highest quality of service as required
  • Recommend areas in need of improvement as it relates to Housekeeping
  • Ensure weekly/monthly inventories are conducted with timely reporting to the Account Department
  • Ensure expenses are kept within budgeted guidelines, through monitoring staff handling and usage of supplies and equipment
  • Attend all scheduled meetings, i.e. Manager Daily Stand-up Briefing, Heads of Department Meeting
  • Maintain proper quality control and daily monitoring of staff
  • Prepare work schedules for staff according to skills and workload levels
  • Maintain records and data pertaining to Property Operations
  • Monitor Housekeeping SOP checklists daily
  • Responsible for ensuring that dirty laundry are timely and appropriately cleaned
  • Ensure the completion of arrival/departure and occupied rooms
  • Maintain the upkeep and organization of housekeeping tools and work areas
  • Inspect the environment within the hotel to ensure it meets best practice throughout the hotel
  • Address guests’ complaints relating to housekeeping efficiently and effectively

 

Requirements:

  • Three years’ experience in a senior housekeeping management role
  • Ability to handle high stress situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented and good organizational skills
