WORKSHOP SUPERVISOR

 

REPORTS TO:   Workshop Manager

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

The management and development of a large modern vehicle maintenance facility that is equipped with the latest technology to enable a complete range of services to be offered to its customers.  The workshop serves a broad range of customers and vehicles ranging from light vehicles through to heavy vehicles and plant.  The Workshop Supervisor will be responsible for the management of the workshop ensuring that it delivers effective, efficient and economic solutions to all its customers whilst operating on a commercial basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. The recruitment, personal development including the identification of training needs, discipline, motivation, productivity, welfare safety of all staff employed at Beetham.
  2. The preparation of detailed service and maintenance schedules for vehicles and items of plant that meets the needs of VMCOTT’s customers and ensures maximum vehicle availability at an affordable cost.
  3. The management and monitoring of workshop productivity and outputs producing the following monthly performance monitoring information:-
  • Available hour’s –v- Sell-out hours
  • Average Job Time
  • Vehicle Downtime
  • Staff Attendance & Sickness Workshop Financial Performance Indicators – Management of Workshop Expenditure

     4. The development, annual up-dating and implementation of all policies and procedures that are required to run an effective, efficient workshop on a commercial basis.

     5. The implementation, management and review of VMCOTT Workshop Health & Safety Policy.

     6. Monthly meeting with new, and all existing customers to ensure VMCOTT continues to improve its performance and expand its customer base.

     7. The provision of support either technical or administratively as required to all areas of the business including the preparation of technician specifications or customer quotations.

     8. Liaising with international and local suppliers/manufacturer’s in relation to all aspects of the operation of a modern workshop; in areas such as warranty, parts supply, technical supports, etc.

     9. To liaise with the procurement/manager and stores/manager to ensure the timely and economic supply of parts and materials are achieved to ensure the achievement of maximum workshop efficiency.

    10. To undertake any other duties or responsibilities that are deemed appropriate for example acting as relief workshop manager at one of the other sites if required.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess:

  • A University Degree or equivalent Advanced Certification in an Engineering discipline obtained from a recognized institution.
  • A Masters Degree will be an asset.
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in workshop management with at least three (3) years at a senior management level.
  • Computer Literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good leadership and interpersonal skill will be beneficial.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with people are essential.
  • Well organized, accurate and attentive to details.

Must be a resident of Tobago or willing to relocate at your own expense.
