SANITATION MANAGER

Main Purpose of the Job
Manage the overall sanitation requirements and improve sanitary controls within the production plants and general facilities for the fulfilment of the Sanitation Management Programme. The incumbent is also responsible for creating a cultural shift to increase sanitation awareness and demonstrates that sanitation is far more all-encompassing than cleaning.

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Public Health, Microbiology, Food/Animal Science or equivalent qualifications from a recognised tertiary institution
  • Certificate HACCP, GMP, ISO:22000
  • Certificate Supervisory Management

Key Activities & Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and review a Sanitation Management Programme (SMP) detailing the eight pillars on which sanitation is built;
  • Development, implement and maintain Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) for both production facilities and general premises;
  • Develop, implement, review and conduct trainings related to Standard Operating Procedures and Sanitary Standard Operating Procedures annually;
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the chemistry of cleaning and sanitization;
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of microbiology and its application to sanitation;
  • Plan and conduct in-house sanitation trainings as per the Sanitation Management Programme Training Requirements;
  • Conduct Sanitation Inspections and Audits and develop Corrective Action Reports to address nonconformities;
  • Introduce technology, machinery and equipment to enhance the execution of tasks;
  • Ensure internal Pest management strategies are aligned to an Integrated Pest Management Approach;
  • Conduct Risk Assessment Job Hazard Analysis in accordance to the tasks requirements;
  • Verify and maintain all sanitation records and documentations;
  • Conduct Accident/Incident Investigation, determine root cause and develop corrective action for all occurrences involving sanitation team members;
  • Participate in all sanitation related audits as may be required;
  • Conduct manpower needs Assessment to ensure coverage for the execution of tasks in alignment with the established Cleaning/Sanitation Schedules;
  • Maintain a system for verification and validation of sanitation functions;
  • Ensure the timely completion of Performance Appraisal for Sanitation Team;
  • Develop and maintain an Infection Control Protocol to assist in the maintenance of a healthy work force;
  • Develop and adhere to Departments’ Key Performance Indicators.
