We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Developer to join the Cayman Islands Government and become a vital member of a highly collaborative team “To make the lives of those we serve better”. The Software Developer will be a member of the Computer Services Departments Development team to envision, design, develop, maintain and support innovative custom application systems and websites that provide secure, user-friendly, and efficient solutions for the delivery and management of government services offered to all government entities and the public.
The Software Developer will work with the Software Development teams who are responsible for ongoing support, development and maintenance of internal business applications, as well as government websites, in particular www.gov.ky the main government website serving the 70,000+ residents of the Cayman Islands plus a worldwide audience. The post-holder will have a passion for technology and be expected to have a very good understanding of modern software development, best practices and patterns, with the ability to get along well in a culturally diverse environment.
Education & Experience: The post-holder must possess:
• An IT related Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three (3) years post-graduate experience; OR
• An IT related Associates degree plus a minimum of five (5) years post-graduate experience.
Preferred degrees are in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Management Information Systems. All of the above experience must be in software development, or related IT fields. Any proven high-level performance or industry certifications will also be recognized and considered as relevant experience.
Technical Knowledge & Skills:
With Oracle being the primary technology used; knowledge and experience with Oracle Application Express (APEX) and Oracle Content Management (formally Content and Experience Cloud (OCE)) are important for the role, however experience is also valued in:
