Junior Underwriter

The Junior Underwriter under the guidance of the Underwriting Manager is responsible for collecting data, conducting risk assessments and analyzing statistical data to provide reliable information to internal stakeholders.

SUMMARY OF KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review pricing structure for all new business.
• Review pricing structure for all Group Health and Supplemental Health upgrades/renewals. 
• Conduct risk assessment for all insurance applications and business proposals.
• Make recommendations regarding acceptance, rejection and modification of business proposals based on sound analytical data.
• Provide analysis on risk and exposure level for all existing and potential clients. 
• Apply knowledge of underwriting guidelines to ensure compliance with applicable industry regulations and company standards.
• Research and develop loss control support resources.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to support marketing and sales initiatives.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

• • Bachelor of Science in Business Management, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or any other related field from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Knowledge in Personal Accident and Critical Illness pricing ould be an asset.
  • Completed ACII designation.

 REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:

• Knowledge of Underwriting and Rating Theory, Principles and Application.
• Knowledge of Regional Insurance Regulations.
• Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
• Strong decision-making and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and oral communiation skills.
• Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism, confidentiality.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Meticulous and has the ability to function with minimal supervision.
