The incumbent shall develop, communicate and execute an arrears management, recovery and remedial strategy within a risk management framework.

Job Summary

This role acts as the lead in managing and executing the Company’s Issuer risk and remedial action. The incumbent shall develop, communicate and execute an arrears management, recovery and remedial strategy within a risk management framework. The position is responsible for proactively monitoring of performance of Issuers/Sellers and Obligors, monitoring compliance with terms of financing agreement and making actionable recommendations to the Executive Management and RMC in that respect. The manager drives decision making that creates short, medium and long-term improvement and provides advice with respect to structuring of facilities.

Job Duties

  • Document risk review of facilities proposed to be arranged and distributed by the company and provide review on all projects to be funded
  • Review risk profile of new products/services and make recommendations where necessary
  • Prepare executive reports: submit management report monthly on performance of all facilities. This report to also inform impairment review.
  • Lead negotiations as it relates to legal matters and creditors delinquency
  • Lead all arrears management, remedial and recoveries action of the company and attend all meetings with attorneys and liaises with legal counsel as required
  • Develop and implement reporting and monitoring Model for the company. Keep Management informed of any issues that need to be addressed outside of the monthly reporting
  • Ensure compliance with Arrears Management and Non-Performing Facilities Policy and any other company policy, statue, law, regulation, guideline etc. governing function
  • Lead the corporate governance function re. preparation of policies and procedures that provide the relevant internal controls to support recording, monitoring, recovery and reporting, in particular as it relates to project monitoring, arrears management, remedial and recoveries that engenders, quality assurance, integrity, efficiency and effectiveness of operations
  • Ensure monitoring of client’s compliance terms of funding. Compliance, Legal, Risk, Issuer Services to be informed of any breaches in this respect
  • Weekly monitoring of all delinquency including being guided by early warning signs provided by Corp. Finance
  • Ensure all collateral is monitored and kept in good order
  • Ensure information is provided to Issuer Services, to allow for updating of investors, Paying Agent to allow for updating of Trustees and Legal to allow for necessary action to be taken
  • Ensure maintenance of an efficient filing and documentation system, both hard copy and electronically, such to allow for providing evidence, information with respect to monitoring etc. of the clients, which includes both verbal and written communication. This must stand audit scrutiny and be able to support any legal action and support impairment testing in accordance with IFRS requirements
  • Prepare executive reports as requested as it relates to the function
  • Make monthly recommendation with respect to impairment of financial assets in line with IFRS requirements. Create model for calculation in this respect.
  • Maintain a risk register

Knowledge

  • Prior experience in risk, recovery and remedial functions
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of management strategies, financial accounting, cash management, working capital management, risk management, project assessment/monitoring, customer relations and implementation of new technologies.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate risk and make sound decisions

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management, Finance or Business Administration
  • Must have 5 years’ experience in risk, remedial, recoveries, business management, and financial decision-making.
