Job Objective To provide strategic leadership to the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) towards realising the vision of the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago for a quality tertiary education sector.

  1. Lead the development and operationalisation of the vision and mission of the ACTT.
  2. Lead and direct the planning, development and implementation of policies and procedures of the ACTT.
  3. Implement management systems for planning, monitoring and assessing critical areas of the Council’s performance and operations.
  4. Lead, recruit and supervise the senior management team to fulfill the human resource management needs of the Council based on operational scope, mandate, goals and imperatives.
  5. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to promote the sharing and promulgation of relevant information.
  6. Maintain confidentiality agreements with external stakeholders by ensuring that confidentiality policies and guidelines are followed and adhered to.
  7. Lead and direct new and existing initiatives towards institutional development, engaging internal and external stakeholders.
  8. Report on the technical, operational and financial activities; external and internal events; and other relevant Council functions to the senior management team and the Board of Directors to promote cross-functional awareness and efficiency and further support the strategic initiatives of the Council.
  9. Advise the Board of Directors on any emerging trends or issues related to quality in tertiary education.
  10. Submit statutory reports on the technical, operational and financial activities of the Council to the line ministry and the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to account for the use of public funds and demonstrate returns on public investment.
  11. Identify and implement training and leadership development opportunities to staff according to the needs of the Council.
  12. Formally assess the performance of staff in accordance with the Council’s performance management system.
  13. Conduct appropriate research to ensure standards are up-to-date and in alignment with international guidelines and best practice.

Qualifications/Certifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Education (Doctoral Degree in Educational Administration will be an asset)
  • Certificate in Quality Management will be an asset

Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience at the managerial level in a private enterprise or state sector, preferably in an educational environment

Knowledge in:

  • Institutional or programmatic accreditation in Caribbean tertiary education
  • National laws and regional regulations as applied to tertiary education accreditation and quality assurance
  • Global standards regarding policies and best practices in accreditation and quality assurance
  • Digitization and emerging trends in tertiary education and quality assurance
