The Receivables Associate provides support to the Accounts Receivables Department by ensuring that all customer transactions are executed accurately and timely through full ownership of the portfolio assigned.

Qualification and Experience

  • Associate Degree in Accounting or equivalent qualification;
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent customer service, communication and negotiation skills;
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and in teams;
  • Ability to prioritize competing objectives and meet deadlines;
  • Keen attention to details;
  • Ability to work on own initiative; self-motivated and energetic.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy of customer account balances by daily monitoring and reviewing of all accounts assigned;
  • Ensure that bad debts are maintained at a minimal level;
  • Provide timely feedback on customer’s queries by liaising with relevant individuals/departments;
  • Ensure that remittance details are communicated to the Cash Management team timely;
  • Ensure all unapplied or unidentified amounts are resolved timely;
  • Negotiate payments with assigned customers daily;
  • Review, analyse accounts and implement new strategies to improve collections, reduce aged receivables and mitigate risks;
  • Reconcile all customer accounts monthly;
  • Email statements and invoices to customers;
  • Prepare periodic reports for department supervisor’s review;
  • Escalate customer disputes timely;
  • Maintain or exceed collections target;
  • Ensure full compliance with department policies.
