As a market leader, with significant growth opportunities, we are seeking an experienced ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT. 

If you are the ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT we are looking for and are interested in joining a high performance team, you will be:

Responsible for performing a wide range of functions that supports the Finance arm of the Company as it relates to Accounting duties, this includes but is not limited to data entry on Sage Accounting system, reconciliation of inventory,  cash reconciliations, preparing daily/monthly reports and filing. Knowledge on Receivables Management will be an asset. The position holder also is a relief for the Company’s Brand Ambassadors as it pertains to The Kendall Stores. The position holder must comply with all Company's Policies and Procedures governing the position and reports to the Accountant. 

 Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Participates in stock count activities at mid and month end.
  • Daily and bi-monthly reconciliation of stock on hand and cash balances.
  • Preparation of daily deposits.
  • Accounts for cash received versus sales made and red flag any deviations.
  • Accurate and timely data entry in Sage Accounting System and other Accounting Software.
  • Prepares a standard set of monthly reports.
  • Able to create and maintain spreadsheet to track daily sales and jobs types received
  • Prepares and issues quotations as/when necessary.
  • Acts as a relief for the Kendall Store and is guided by the roles and responsibilities as guided by the Kendall Store Policy.
  • Acts as a secondary assistant as it relates to the preparation of the fortnightly payroll as and when necessary.
  • Accurate filing of documents.
  • Upholds the Company's Policies and Procedures as outlined in its HS&E Management System.

Academic qualifications and experience:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Accounting
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and particularly Microsoft Excel

 Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Well developed interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function as an effective team member
  • Ability to work autonomously and provide daily feedback to your immediate supervisor
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments
  • Attention to detail
