Our Client in the Oil & Gas Sector is seeking a Project Manager to manage a SAP S/4 HANA implementation exercise. This position is offered as a 2-year contract.

  

JOB SUMMARY

The Project Manager - SAP S/4 HANA Implementation has overall responsibility for the planning and technical execution of the SAP S/4 HANA Implementation Project as well as Organisational Change Management activities related to the project. The incumbent will develop, guide, and manage the project on a day-to-day basis to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of the SAP S/4 HANA Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. This includes coordinating the efforts of core and extended team members and managing external consultants to ensure that all contractual obligations are met in accordance with agreed terms and conditions. The Project Manager will also oversee quality control throughout the life cycle of the project.

  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Management:

  • Develops with the Project Sponsor and Project Steering Team, the project framework, inclusive of overall objectives.
  • Monitors and provides financial/operational data as appropriate for assimilation by the Project Sponsor and the Project Steering Team to ensure that project remains within approved budget.
  • Collaborates with key internal stakeholders to ensure timely project reporting, cost reporting, schedule reporting, and provision of relevant business information needed by the Steering Committee, Executive Sponsor or other authorized Management as required.
  • Meets with SAP S/4 HANA Project sponsor and Steering Team once per week and on an as-needed basis to present a weekly, monthly, quarterly update on the status of the project and capture decisions and outcomes from these meetings.
  • Provides relevant Management Information viz. Power BI KPI Dashboards, Project Plans and Action Logs in support of Management's decision-making process.
  • Establishes with SAP S/4 HANA Consultant and the Project Execution Team annual Individual Performance Plans (“IPP”) for completion of individual tasks and targets to be achieved within the designated time frames and/or cost/schedule/quality parameters. Appraises the performance of team members under immediate supervision.
  • Coaches, mentors, motivates, and supervises project team members and consultants to develop a harmonious work environment, minimize conflict and take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Administers other established human resource, financial, legal, governance and corporate management policies and procedures, and monitors compliance by staff with these policies and procedures.
  • Manages contractual relationship between the Company and relevant third parties.

  

Operational/Technical/Professional:

  • Develops, guides, and manages the project using the Company’s Project Management Methodology (PMM) stage gate process in close collaboration with the Project Sponsor.
  • Develops project Work Break Down Structure (WBS) including key project phases consisting of Requirements, Configuration, Testing, Training and “Go-Live” in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Develops and maintains project schedule based on WBS using Microsoft Project/Project Online and tracks project milestones and deliverables, taking steps where necessary to ensure that project is on schedule.
  • Works closely with the Project Sponsor, core and extended team members to freeze project requirements and scope. Proactively monitors and manages changes in project requirements, scope, identifies potential issues and risks, and devises contingency plans.
  • Coordinates all contract management activities with the Company’s Supply Chain Management Department to achieve the deliverables of the executed contracts with minimal change orders.
  • Ensures project risks are identified and mitigated through active Risk Management Planning inclusive of an up-to-date Project Risk Register and Risk Mitigation activities throughout all project phases
  • Meets with core and extended project team members once per week and on an as-needed basis to monitor progress, facilitate decisions, resolve issues and close out outstanding actions.
  • Works closely with the SAP Consultant to execute all ERP configuration activities within approved scope, identifying issues as they arise and seeking input from relevant stakeholders to close out these issues to stay within schedule and budget.
  • Develops and implements a Testing Plan in consultation with relevant stakeholders to ensure configuration meets desired outcomes.
  • Captures all learnings from Testing and ensure all software and / or system bugs are identified and resolved.
  • Develops Cutover and “Go-Live” plan in consultation with relevant stakeholders to prepare for “Go Live” stage.
  • Conducts Business Contingency planning with relevant stakeholders to prepare for “Go Live” stage.
  • Implements Cutover and ”Go-Live” Plan and Business Contingency Plan working closely with relevant stakeholders to manage business issues as they arise.
  • Conducts post implementation review and implement any outstanding open actions.
  • Conducts contract closeout activities with the Supply Chain Management team.
  • Works closely with Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSE&S) Department to ensure all HSE&S requirements are met during implementation stage.
  • Delegates tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Effectively communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Provides overall accountability for Organisational Change Management related to the implementation of SAP S/4 HANA
  • Liaises with and provides guidance to the internal Change Management team, as well as Change Management consultants.
  • Performs Quality Assurance and signs off on all deliverables as necessary
  • Ensures proper project documentation management is maintained
  • Ensures that all activities and decisions comply with Company’s Delegation of Authorities Manual and Project Management Methodology (PMM), Tender Rules and Practices, Statutory, Corporate Environment, Health, Safety and Security Policies, Human Resources Policies, among others.

   

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, Engineering, Project Management, or other relevant degree program
  • PMP Certification would be an asset
  • Post graduate degree (MSc or MBA) would be an asset
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of work experience in a Project Management capacity, including all aspects of project development and execution, preferably in IT Systems Implementation environment with a focus on Digital Transformation initiatives including three (3) years supervisory experience in an information technology environment.
  • Experience in implementation of SAP S/4 HANA or other ERP systems
  • Experience in Organisational Change Management
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry would be an asset
