JOB DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate shall report to the Executive and Executive Sous Chefs. He/she will work alongside the head chef to manage daily kitchen activities, including overseeing staff, aiding with menu preparation, and quality and consistent meal preparation by following and creating recipes that are delivered at the  highest quality standard.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leading the kitchen team in chef's absence
• Providing guidance to junior kitchen staff members, including, but not limited, to line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating
• Overseeing and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients
• Ensuring a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products organized for quality assurance
• Supervising all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and standard
• Working with head chef to maintain kitchen organization and completion of assigned duties

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Strong knowledge of cooking and or baking techniques as required by the position
• Teamwork-oriented with outstanding leadership abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Able to work well under pressure
• Strong knowledge of the HACCP standards and best practices

   REQUIREMENTS 

• At least 5 years’ proven work experience.  At least 2 years in a senior role.
• Advance knowledge of culinary, baking and pastry techniques
• Strong leadership ability and experience
• Ability to train and develop new recruits 
• Certification of culinary training is required
• Valid food handlers permit
