To provide critical quasi-legal, administrative and secretarial support to the Legal Officers in the performance of their duties.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE
• To compose and type routine correspondences
• To compile briefs for Recoveries and Mortgage matters
• To type agreements, contracts, leases and legal opinions
• To process deeds forwarded to the Board for execution
• To conduct preliminary checks on affidavits received for execution
• To arrange services of legal documents and conduct of title searches with the Process Server and Title Clerk respectively
• To maintain status reports on Recoveries and Mortgage portfolios
• To maintain a follow-up system in relation to Recoveries and Mortgage portfolios
• To maintain a litigation calendar in reference to Recoveries and Mortgage matters
• To monitor and follow-up payments by debtors in respect of Recoveries matters
• To maintain filing system for Recoveries and Mortgage matters
• To provide report on Recoveries and Mortgage matters for inclusion In the Department’s monthly report
• To co-ordinate and schedule appointments for the Legal Officers
• To prepare Deeds of Variation for vetting and approval by the Legal Officers and arrange for execution and registration of same
• To use on-line computer-based information systems for legal research
• To conduct legal research to analyze ad verify accuracy of citations, and correct erroneous or incomplete citations
• To perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervising Officer
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Five (5) CSEC/GCE O’ Level passes including Mathematics and English Language
• Three (3) CAPE/A’Level passes including Law
• Diploma in Law and Legal Studies or any of the Social Sciences with an emphasis in Contract Law/General Law
• At least three (3) years’ experience in a Legal/Secretariat Department
• Any suitable combination of qualifications and experience
