We are looking for a Events Manager that also has a background in catering to lead a team of kitchen and wait staff and make sure they deliver excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare quotations for customers based on their individual needs.

 

  • Pre prep for caterings – Complete the detailed Catering worksheet and distribute to Kitchen, Stores and Dining Room Managers

 

  • Execute Events ensuring customer satisfaction.  – making sure all previous arrangements are fulfilled and the function is on time.  Fill out a customer satisfaction / post event review form.

 

  • Prepare Catering invoices and collect payments.

 

  • Post-Catering – ensure that all equipment used is cleaned and counted and neatly packed in specific storage area.
  • Prepare payments/ gratuity for the staff that worked.- including kitchen, service staff, stores and housekeeping.

 

  • (you may be required to drive the bus if necessary)

 

  • Menu development – You are expected to develop and improve our catering food offerings.  This involves research into new recipes and experimenting with the kitchen staff.  You will be designing menus for clients with innovative and tasty ideas

 

  • Catering innovation – You are also responsible for the décor and presentation of the event.  We expect innovation in this regard as it relates to new décor and food presentation ideas.

 

  • Décor – you will be responsible for developing standard décor options that makes it easy for clients to choose a theme and we would have the necessary elements to create that theme.  The décor material is also your responsibility to maintain in good condition, properly stored after each use.

 

  • Layout – The layout of the event is also your responsibility.  You are expected to visit the event locations beforehand and determine the best floor plan for the event.

 

  • Event Management – You will also be expected to take on other aspects of the event eg. lighting, entertainment, tents, hosting etc.

 

  • New clients- you are expected to bring in new clients.

 

  • New business – you are expected to harness more business from existing clients.

 

  • Office duties – As a member of the office team you may be asked to assist in the execution of office duties or any other necessary task.

 

  • These are the prescribed list of duties, however your job function is not limited to the above but may incorporate any function necessary.

 

Requirements:

  • Work experience as a Events or Catering Manager  or similar role
  • Hands-on experience with creating menus from scratch
  • Excellent organizational, time and project management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication as well as customer service skills
  • Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under stressful circumstances
  • Flexibility to work during weekends and holidays
  • Having culinary experience would be an asset
  • Experience in creating menu items and pricing
  • A team player
