Itel, a major player in the Business Process Outsourcing industry, is seeking to add an Assistant Accountant to its Head Office located in Montego Bay.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals to fill the post of 'Accounting Assistant - Payroll'

The Payroll Accounting Assistant will contribute to the efficiency of the payroll team, by reviewing hours logged into the system by the different SBU Managers, researching discrepancies, accurately calculating and entering payroll deductions, rate changes etc., and supporting the Payroll Supervisor in the completion of any/ all payroll related duties. The candidate should be thorough, trainable, accurate, honest, with an aptitude for learning new systems and technologies. He/ She should also be a team player, who values communication and process improvement.

 

To be successful at this position, you should have an understanding of basic Accounting principles, proficiency with computers and software such as Microsoft (MS) Excel, MS Word, Quickbooks and/or Dynamics GP. You should also be trustworthy, proactive, efficient, and organized.

 

PAYROLL ASSISTANT RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assists with and play a key role in the completion of bi-monthly payrolls.

· Review hours logged into the payroll system for accuracy and completeness.

· Thoroughly researches all discrepancies submitted by SBU Managers, subsequently adding same to the payroll.

· Responds to payroll related emails in a timely and efficient manner.

· Keeps track of key statutory deadlines and prepares the necessary filing documentation commensurate with same.

· Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; and reporting needed changes.

· Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential

· Ensures that salary deductions are paid over to vendors in a timely manner and that the payment breakout is communicated with the vendor via email.

· Stores all data used to prepare the payroll, in the filing system used and maintained by the Payroll Department.

· Continuously identifies ways to improve and develop the payroll process.

· Assist with preparing and allocation of lunch benefits.

· Maintain and update Health Insurance and Rejected Salaries tracker.

· All other payroll related duties required to be performed by the Payroll Supervisor.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Level 1 ACCA or any other professional Accounting Certification. A Diploma/ Associate Degree in Accounting or Finance is also acceptable.

· At least two (2) years' experience in payroll processing

· Solid data entry skills

· Working knowledge of relevant Accounting software i.e. Quickbooks and/or Dynamics GP.

· Basic Understanding of Accounting Principles
