Accountant

An organization is seeking to recruit a motivated individual for the permanent position of Accountant to develop and maintain accounting principles, practices and procedures.

Core Responsibilities

• Preparation of Quarterly Management Accounts and Financial Statements for annual Audit
• Review of monthly Management Accounts and supporting schedules
• Review and approval of postings done by other accounting personnel
• Review of journals, expense, and balance sheet schedules
• Review of bank reconciliations
• Ensuring that statutory returns are prepared and filed in a timely manner
• Preparation of payroll and assistance in other employee benefit matters
• General supervision of the Finance and Administration department
• Other duties as may be assigned by the Senior Manager, Finance & Administration

Skills/Requirements

• Proficient in use of accounting software e.g. QuickBooks, MYOB etc
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel and Word
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Leadership skills

Academic Qualifications

• Fully-Qualified (ACCA) Accountant
• BSc. Degree in Accounting, Management or related field

Experience

• Preparation of accounting schedules and Financial Statements for Audit
• Demonstrable experience in bank reconciliation and reconciliation of multicurrency accounts
• At least 5 years’ experience in an accounting environment
• At least 3 years’ supervisory experience
