Tony’s Toys Automotive Centre is one of the leading automotive companies in the Cayman Islands.  We are located in Georgetown, Grand Cayman, and are currently recruiting for a European Vehicle Technician to share in the following responsibilities:

 

CORE FUNCTION

Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, the European Vehicle Technician will carry out diagnoses and repairs to all makes and types of vehicles but, in particular, the BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi-make vehicles.  The European Vehicle Technician will also ensure that all jobs adhere to the agreed dealer and  factory standards as well as the Company’s total quality control requirements.

 SUMMARY OF DUTIES 

  • Diagnose, repair and complete approved service on customers’ vehicles as described in work orders and the mechanical inspection form using computerized diagnostic equipment and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate vehicle problems.
  • Maintain vehicles functional condition by listening to owners’ complaints, conduct inspections, repair engine failure, repair mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and replace parts and other components as instructed by the Shop Supervisor.
  • Provide accurate information to Shop Foreman and or Associates as required on work performed, general vehicle condition and future repair requirements.

  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognised academic institution
  • At least 12 years’ experience working in a full-service garage
  • Specialised training/certification to work on European vehicles
  • At least 10-15 years’ experience working on European vehicle
  • Excellent customer relationship management skills
  • Expert ability to perform mechanical diagnoses with efficiency and accuracy
  • Keen sense of timeliness to complete work as assigned on repair orders within the committed time
  • Analytical, meticulous and scrupulous  

 SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE ROLE

  • The ability to work alternate Saturdays
  • A clean driving record with current driver’s licence
  • Work includes movement around vehicles, working in various physical positions, and the safe operation of power tools and test equipment. May be exposed to loud noise, vibration, exhaust fumes, and other service and repair conditions.
