JUNIOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

JOB SUMMARY

The Junior Software Developer will be responsible for assisting the software development team in creating and maintaining in-house and off-the-shelf applications and database systems. The role includes software development, database management, system design, and performing systems analysis. In addition to assisting the software development team, the Junior Software Developer will also serve as a Tier 1 Helpdesk Technician, providing initial support and troubleshooting for internal users regarding IT-related issues and applications.

JOB SPECIFICATION

REQUIRED SKILLS/EDUCATION:

▪         Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and other programming languages.

▪         Experience with SQL and MySQL databases

▪         Working knowledge of NodeJS and frameworks such as ReactJS

▪         Demonstrated ability in creating modern documentation and application development artifacts, coupled with

          graphical skills for UI design.

▪         Basic understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC)

▪         Knowledge of version control tools like GIT

▪         Understanding of Agile development methodologies

▪         A solid knowledge of database design and data modeling

▪         Solid knowledge of database design and data modeling

▪         Hands-on expertise with Windows and Linux

 Education and Experience:

▪         BS in Computer Science/MIS/Information Sciences

▪         Relevant coursework or projects in web development and database management

▪         One (1) to two (2) years of experience developing applications

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

▪         Work closely with representatives of the business unit to gather and develop software requirements

▪         Perform coding, debugging and testing of software, following the software development lifecycle

▪         Maintain systems, staying current with the evolution of user needs

▪         Develop training material and conduct training sessions

▪         Provide and maintain documentation and diagrams for existing and newly developed solutions

▪         Provide first tier technical support for software applications under purview, including phone support and handling 

          Tier 1 phone calls

▪         Ensure issue tracking procedures are executed by logging, tracking, resolving and closing issue logs, and triaging 

          and handling tickets in the ticketing system

▪         Establish and maintain user access levels and ensure security policies are enforced

Other tasks as needed:

▪         Work with the MIS project team or other project teams and provide support as required

▪         Develop recommendations for new product architecture and software/database design

▪         Recommend improvement to existing project implementation methodologies

▪         Provide backup support for other MIS application roles when needed

▪         Any other relevant duties that may be required
