JOB DESCRIPTION

The Junior Fibre Technician job involves various tasks from a large to multi-story office buildings to small housing buildings. As a junior fibre optic technician, you will install and maintain fibre optic telecommunications, such as broadband networks, and digital systems. 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set up fibre optic telecommunication and data networks 

• Resolve, repair and install fibre optics systems and ensure that they work properly
• Examine and replace faulty and old fibre optic cables and also
• Take care of fibre splicing and rectify fibre optic problem areas
• Execute premises cabling and take care of the overhead cabling requirements
• Keep track of the signal strength of different devices such as cable box and modem to provide adequate performance
• Test systems and find and fix any faults 
• Maintain detailed records of each job 
• Working in clients’ homes or businesses 
• Working outdoors in all weathers. 
• Liaise with customers in person, on the phone

QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

• Diploma or Certificate in Fiber Optic Training from HEART NTV
• CAPE or 5 CXC subjects, including Math, Information Technology and Electronics
• 3 Years’ experience in a similar field would be an asset.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE JOB:

• Will be required to work on shift.
• Will be required to work on Saturdays and Sundays.
