At TECU Insurance Solutions Limited (TISL), the Junior Agency Underwriter, is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of Non-Life Insurance businesses while delivering high standards of service excellence.
JOB SUMMARY
The position supports the smooth transition of existing clients, handling the end-to-end sales and service process, securing new and renewal business, and cross-selling Credit Union products. You will play a key role in building strong client relationships, ensuring timely and accurate service, and contributing to overall client satisfaction and retention.
1. Risk Assessment
- Conduct risk assessment/appraisal of non-complex business and renewal risk
- Apply due diligence checks and background research on clients and their risks to be covered
- Prepare/provide Quotations for New Business/Renewals.
- Review Renewals/Amendments within GGIL’s underwriting guidelines, standard operating procedures and approved underwriting limits of authority.
- Review policies and ensures all notices and renewal listings are dispatched in accordance with guidelines
- Review and discuss Renewals with all Stakeholders to achieve retention target.
- Follow up with clients or producers on Renewals.
2. Cash Handling & Banking
- As relief Cahier, ensure that all monies collected are balanced and deposited in accordance with Policy & Procedures
- Submit daily all transaction records to the Accounting Officer for reconciliation.
3. Receivables Management
- Manage receivables in accordance with CBTT’s requirements and/or contractual arrangements with GGIL and TISL.
- Ensure premiums are paid within the contract timeframes
- Follow up on outstanding premiums from clients/ producers.
- Ensure retrieval of cancelled motor certificates.
4. Data Capture & Reporting
- Ensure that all required reports are accurate and submitted TISL management, as required.
- Source missing information from clients for data analysis
5.Relationship Management & Cross-Selling
- Develop and maintain effective business relationships with clients to support retention and growth objectives.
- Conduct visits as required, to Client to conduct risk site visits and develop business and foster relationship with them.
- Actively cross-sell TECU Credit Union’s products and services to TISL’s clients.
General Qualification and Experience
Education:
- Successfully complete the TTII State Licensing Examination (Non-Life) Programme as mandated by the Insurance Act 2018 (amended 2020). (mandatory)
- Minimum of five CXC certificate including English and Mathematics
- Completed our pursuing tertiary level education in a related discipline will be an asset
Experience
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in general insurance underwriting, with a strong understanding of underwriting processes and procedures.
Technical Knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft suite
- Knowledgeable of Insurance Products
