Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Group Treasury & Asset Management team in the capacity of:

Investment Analyst

Conduct analysis on alternative investments along with macro level economic (local & global) research and provide support to the Manager – Investment Analysis & Product Development at a level that will enhance the effective operation of the department and the achievement of the divisions’ goals.

Location: Kingston

As an Investment Analyst, you will:

• Conduct financial statements and analysis to gain insights on the financial performance of companies including but not limited to liquidity, operational efficiency, and profitability.
• Develop customized financial models to assist with the evaluation and execution of transactions.
• Prepare financial commentary on a company’s main financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income and Cash-flow Statements) with a view to evaluating fundamental business performance.
• Prepare reports for submission to the necessary internal committee(s) which include ratio analysis, peer analysis, SWOT analysis and other analyses which are useful for strategic decision making.
• Monitor existing assets across investment portfolios for Sagicor Investments, pension funds, insurance funds and collective investment schemes.
• Assist with the preparation of assessment reports on real estate projects and existing real estate holdings.
• Prepare feasibility studies to determine the viability of residential and commercial real estate developments.
• Provide analytical support to all areas of the unit.
• Perform any other job-related duties assigned from time to time.

What do you need?

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Business Administration or similar area of study or an equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
• The Jamaica Institute of Management securities course or its equivalent would be an asset.
• Three (3) years’ working experience in financial services industry.
• Sound knowledge of computer software packages including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
• Knowledge of financial market and what drives the capital markets.
• Working knowledge of financial analysis models.
• Knowledge of Bloomberg.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form.
