Job Summary:
The Inventory Supervisor (technical department) leads the inventory management function, ensuring optimal control, security, and accountability of all electronic security equipment and materials across multiple locations. The role includes oversight of procurement support, warehouse operations, staff supervision, and the implementation of modern inventory management systems to reduce loss, improve efficiency, and support operational and client service excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership & Oversight
- Supervise, train, and mentor inventory staff, ensuring adherence to SOPs and performance targets.
- Assign and monitor daily tasks, stock counts, and documentation duties.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support staff development plans.
2. Inventory Control & Reconciliation
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of inventory records using ERP or WMS platforms.
- Lead physical stock counts (monthly, quarterly, annual) and investigate variances.
- Monitor usage trends, cycle counts, and forecast inventory needs.
3. Procurement & Vendor Support
- Collaborate with Procurement and Finance to ensure accurate and timely purchase order fulfilment.
- Approve inventory requisitions and verify delivery of ordered goods.
- Oversee return of defective items and track vendor performance.
4. Warehouse Management
- Ensure organized, secure, and compliant storage of all materials and equipment.
- Implement systems for labelling, bin management, and safe material handling.
- Monitor and enforce warehouse security protocols, including camera and access logs.
5. Compliance & Risk Mitigation
- Ensure compliance with safety, fire, and handling regulations for all inventory types, including sensitive electronics.
- Detect and investigate breaches or abuse of inventory policies.
- Implement and audit security measures for high-value items and IoT-linked components.
6. Data Management & Reporting
- Generate and present weekly, monthly, and ad hoc inventory reports to leadership.
- Maintain up-to-date and auditable inventory databases.
- Analyze inventory metrics (turnover, shrinkage, utilization) to inform management decisions.
7. Operational & Project Support
- Coordinate inventory supply for installations, service calls, and large-scale projects.
- Liaise with Technical, Installation, and Repair Teams for stock issuance and returns.
- Respond promptly to emergency equipment needs and shortfall alerts.
8. Continuous Improvement
- Drive implementation of automation tools, barcode/RFID systems, and inventory optimization technologies.
- Lead root cause analysis of inefficiencies and develop corrective action plans.
- Stay updated on best practices in inventory and supply chain management.
9. Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all full compliance within the inventory department with local regulations, industry standards, and company safety protocols.
- Ensure that the required processes are in place to guarantee that existing systems are secure and reliable, minimizing vulnerabilities.
10. Any other Task
- As the operations of the business evolves and new technologies are adopted, utmost flexibility will be required to complete new/ additional tasks which may be assigned.
Qualifications and Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or Business.
- Certification in Inventory, Logistics, or Warehouse Management (e.g., APICS CPIM, CILT).
- Strong knowledge of ERP/WMS platforms (SAP, NetSuite, Zoho, etc.).
- Familiarity with ACCPAC or related financial systems is an asset.
- 5+ years in inventory management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience in electronic security, telecommunications, or technical service environments preferred.
- Proven success managing multi-site inventory operations and high-value equipment.
