Inventory Manager

The Business & Employment Centre on behalf of its client is seeking to recruit an Inventory Manager. The Inventory Manager will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining accurate inventory levels within the retail store. This role ensures efficient stock control, timely replenishment, loss prevention, and smooth inventory operations to support sales and customer satisfaction. The Inventory Manager works closely with purchasing, sales, warehouse, and store staff to optimize inventory processes and maintain operational efficiency.

 

Reports to: CEO, General Manager, Financial Controller

Primary Responsibilities

  • Liaise with the CEO, General Manager, Financial Controller, Buyers, and Store Managers by providing timely reports for the optimization of the inventory management processes
  • Develop and maintain an inventory management plan to assist with cash flow forecast
  • Work closely with Warehouse Management to streamline operations to assist in the improvement of business performance
  • Maintain and update Commodity Group reporting, to allow for macro views of business for the purpose of planning
  • Maintain Inventory Accuracy Metrics and associated reports for management
  • Maintain and report on the Stock Movement Categorization System and ensure that established policies and procedures are being followed
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for cycle counts processes at all business units
  • Supervise inventory using any automated Retail POS Management System, to prevent stock-outs or overstocking
  • Initiate and monitor policy changes regarding inventory
  • Formulate ways to dispose of obsolete inventory items
  • Maintain and evaluate inventory records on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Use Retail POS Management Systems to investigate and correct discrepancies
  • Perform daily inventory audits at business units
  • Maintain strict and adequate record filing systems in accordance with the Company’s data retention policies
  • Train other employees in cycle counting and inventory control
  • Develop good working relationships at all levels within the Company, leading and communicating as needed to maximize individual and team performance
  • Generate reports using the Retail POS Management System and other reporting tools: i.e. spreadsheets, databases, word processors, process mapping and presentation software.
  • Work with tight deadlines and meet set targets
  • Perform any others related duties as assigned

  • Adhere strictly to all, housekeeping, security, safety, code of conduct, dress standards, operating practices and other rules and policies as developed or amended from time to time
  • Develop and maintain a team working relationship based on mutual respect for other employees

 

Required Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Retail Management, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of retail inventory or warehouse management experience
  • Knowledge of shrinkage control and retail compliance procedure
  • Experience with retail inventory software systems (preferably Korona)
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) – Optional
  • Proven experience in inventory management, retail operations, or stock control
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management systems and POS software
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Good leadership and team management abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory reporting tools
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
