OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:

The Inventory Controller’s main responsibility is to ensure the efficient processing of all stock related data entries for the department. This entails ensuring the accurate entry of important information such as gross profit margins, prices, quantities, product descriptions, taxes and barcodes. The position requires the efficient supervising of junior staff, ensuring adherence to company policies, as well as the resolving of stock related discrepancies that may arise.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensures the accuracy of all stock related information added to the system by add to stock personnel. This includes accurate gross profit margins, prices, quantities, product descriptions, product lines, taxes, barcodes, discounts etc.
• Liaises with the Inventory Manager in the resolving of all discrepancies relating to the department such as incorrect prices, incorrect descriptions, incorrect information on invoices, items not scanning etc.
• Ensures that all documents submitted have the required stamps and signatures; ensures all corrections made at the receival bay or otherwise are affixed to the respective invoices.
• Prepares weekly work schedules for staff in the department.
• Supervises and monitors employees in the department ensuring that all duties are performed efficiently and in accordance with company policy.
• Motivates staff and provides training to employees in the department. Identifies personnel for cross training and identifies any training needs among staff members.
• Conducts performance appraisals for employees in the department every six months.
• Ensures that all department equipment is functional and reports equipment needs/repairs immediately.
• Conduct cyclic count on a regular basis or when required.
• Participate in all stock count conducted by the department/organization on a whole.
• Ability to analyse and investigate large data.
• Performs any other duties assigned by the Inventory Manager.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:

• Associate Degree in Business Administration
• 3 years of relevant experience
• Supervisory management certification in specialised area
• Ability to effectively manage and lead personnel.
• High level of accuracy.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the relevant Information Management Software.
