Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Administration Manager to oversee daily Underwriting operations, assist in developing manuals and guidelines, and support the Senior Manager- Underwriting in formalising departmental plans and objectives.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. To oversee the operations of the Underwriting department, including its staff on administrative matters.
  2. Motivating and training staff.
  3. Operational Management:
    • Ensuring renewal reviews are completed in accordance with the company’s guidelines.
    • Ensuring the premium billing is done in accordance with the company’s guidelines.
    • Ensuring policy documents are issued and delivered in accordance with CBTT’s guidelines.
    • Ensuring that there are adequate stationery supplies, namely, policy documents, certificates/schedules, etc.
    • Ensuring that quotes are delivered in accordance with the company’s standards.
    • Ensure the turnaround time for issuance of policy documents to policyholders is in accordance with specified guidelines
    • Ensure that policy documents are properly filed and archived/purged, as necessary.
    • Ensuring reports for reinsurers are submitted in a timely manner.
    • Expedite the administration of all fronting arrangements.
    • Consult with Group IT on all matters relating to Inspro3.
  4. Review and provide feedback to management on the conduct of underwriting audits in collaboration with the Insurance Administrator in order to ensure that deficiencies are addressed and remedied in a timely manner.
  5. In collaboration with the Underwriting Management, ensure full cooperation of all staff for all internal and external audits, namely, Compliance – AML and Underwriting, Internal Audit, External Audit, and CBTT.
  6. Attend monthly meetings of the Operations committee.
  7. Prepare Quotations in accordance with Company Standards and Underwriting Authority Limits
  8. Accurate signing of policy documents and broker’s slips within Underwriting Authority Limits
  9. Collaborate with management and team members to ensure  the Risk Register is maintained on a consistent basis
  10. Assist with the completion of quarterly reports for the Board.
  11. Assist with preparation of internal & external communication re: changes with the department, authority limits, pricing, rates, etc.
  12. Review complaints from customers and make recommendations to improve service.  Resolve issues in conjunction with the Senior Manager - Underwriting.
  13. Collaborate with Senior Manager – Underwriting and Supervisors to prepare and complete performance appraisals for the Underwriting Team.
  14. In collaboration with the Underwriting Management, assist with the Development and review of:
    • Underwriting policies, procedures, and guidelines.
    • Service levels for delivery of our products and services.
    • Operational Plans and Budgets for the fiscal year.
  15. Provide oversight and guidance to the Assistant Manager, ensuring responsibilities are executed in alignment with company policies, standards, and service objectives. Provide support for the introduction and launch of new products
  16. Work on appointed committees of the company.
  17. Keeping the Senior Manager - Underwriting informed about all aspects of the operation and current trends in the market.
  18. Represent the company in the trade association and corporate functions.
  19. Build relationships with other insurers in the market.
  20. Authorized signatory on bond portfolio.
  21. Any other related duties.

 KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to interact with directors, senior management, and regulators.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Insurance qualified – A minimum Diploma in Insurance or the equivalent.
  • University Degree in Insurance and Risk Management, Management, Business Administration or any other related field would be an asset.
  • 5 years’ experience in General Insurance underwriting.
  • 5 years or more of supervisory experience in General Insurance Underwriting
