Responsibilities:

 

Inside Sales

  • · Ensure that SQ’s (Freight rates) assigned are updated and maintained (To revalidate by 21st of each month)
  • · Ensure that quotations prepared are completed in accordance with company’s guidelines. Quotations being presented should be reviewed to ensure proper and accurate information from LARA.
  • · Telemarketing of 20 accounts per week whichmust be updated in the CRM module in LARA within 24 hours.
  • · Ensure that internal support is provided to Outside Sales (Includes preparation of performance report per customer 24hrs before visit to client) upon request.
  • · Promotion of CLIENT’s Services (Includes eBusiness, Insurance and Intermodal / Haulage when applicable) must be evidenced by accomplishing targets defined by Supervisor.
  • · 100% compliance to CLIENT’s policies and operating procedures with regards to Inside Sales Activity Check List (attached).
  • · Ensure that all customers’ requests, including freight quotations & service details are promptly handled within one (1) business day. In instances where it is beyond SLU’s control to respond within the stipulated time, proper communication such as e-mail should be used to ensure that the client is kept abreast of progress.
  • · To provide a courteous, professional and prompt service including but not limited to ensuring all rate quoted and sales leads are followed within one (1) business day. Complaints in this area are unacceptable.
  • · Any queries or issues that could lead to loss/ risk of losing business should immediately be brought to the attention of the Supervisor/Manager e.g. threat of claim on delivery of cargo Re: Vessel Omission as well as threat of loss account Re: Rate issue.
  • · Ensure that effective teamwork is displayed to achieve smooth running of the department.
  • · To demonstrate support for team’s objective by actively participating in department’s/agency initiatives.

 

Operations & Logistics

  • · Ensures that all paperwork related to vessel and container information are accurately completed (processed and transmitted) to the relevant clients and reporting authorities within a timely manner (including but not limited to securing of berths & customs watch & supervision).
  • · Prepares for vessel calls and supervision of all vessel activities (Inclusive of loading, discharge and Stevedore activities) while in port by generating the necessary documentation for transmission/exchange with other Agencies, Representatives, Regional/Head office, Ports and local authorities.
  • · Boarding of all vessels as/when required, providing in and out clearance with Customs and other Authorities – Health & Agriculture
  • · Liaison between Kingston planning center, port and vessel command concerning stowage positions for discharge & loading operations and thus berthing accordingly.
  • · Makes visits to the Port and customers premises to confirm and keep proper records of our local container inventory and repatriation of same
  • · Provide husbandry services to vessel and crew wherever necessary.
  • · Ensure to properly update the Sales/Operations Assistant on an ongoing basis and in the cases of planned absence provide proper written hand over.

 

Knowledge, work experience, skills & competencies

  • · Strong Knowledge in Shipping (minimum 2 Years of experience in liner shipping)
  • · Sales Experience an asset
  • · Great customer facing skills with ability to build and nurture relationships
  • · Demonstration of professional demeanour, positive attitude, and ability to manage stress through challenging situations
  • · Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
