The incumbent will assist the Systems Administrator in ensuring the smooth running of all computer software and hardware within the company.

Major Responsibilities:

The incumbent will assist the Systems Administrator in ensuring the smooth running of all computer software and hardware within the company.

Through performance of the duties assigned, the IT Technician will ensure that accounting principles and practices are employed while performing the stated functions that will result in the accurate and efficient reporting of specified duties.

  • The incumbent will be required to be familiar with the following software packages so as to make worthwhile recommendations for expansion, upgrading or switching to an alternative system:
    • BatchMaster Inventory Software
    • Mixit Software for Paint mixing
    • Microsoft NaVision
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair computer hardware.  Recommend, and perform upgrades on computer hardware.
  • Perform maintenance schedules for the computer systems as per prescribed schedules – head offices and retail outlets
  • Take and respond to help desk calls in accordance with established standards.
  • Be on call to respond as required.
  • Monitor and maintain data backups as per established schedules
  • Monitor and maintain security systems in accordance with established standards
  • Maintain network infrastructure and monitor network performance in accordance with established standards.
  • Maintain, and troubleshoot Retail Store POS System
  • Train staff on store software systems, (POS, E-Mail and Productivity software)
  • Maintain, configure and troubleshoot mobile phones (Android, Blackberry and IPhone)
  • Configure, maintain and support bar code generating and reading systems and devices.
  • Maintain and support telephone and related systems.
  • Assess computer(s) and report on any parts needed.
  • Any other computing function as is necessary

Job Qualifications:

  • Secondary level education in the area of Computer Studies with emphasis on database administration
  • Problem solving skills an asset
  • Specific skills in a variety of database systems
  • Excellent logical and analytical skills
  • Possess an organizing ability that will ensure the fluidity, efficiency, availability, and security of all services.
  • Good written and oral communication and interpersonal abilities.  This is especially important in the collaboration process within a project team.
  • A+ Certification or equivalent
  • Basic Networking
  • Strong working knowledge of Productivity Software (MS Office, Open Office, WPS Office)
  • Android OS installation, configuration and support skills.
  • iOS installation, configuration and support skills.
  • Windows desktop operating system (XP and later) installation, configuration and support skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.

Experience:

A minimum of two (2) years in a similar position/capacity.
