Our client, a leading organization in the Retail and Distribution sector, is seeking a highly skilled Information Technology Manager to oversee the organization’s technology infrastructure and ensure that all IT systems, networks, and data management solutions function efficiently and securely.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing IT staff, maintaining hardware and software systems, supporting business applications specific to the industry, and driving digital transformation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities
Technology Infrastructure Management
- Oversee and maintain the company’s technology infrastructure, including networks, servers, hardware, and software.
- Ensure systems remain operational, secure, and aligned with business requirements.
Business Application Support
- Manage and support business-critical applications, including inventory management, logistics, fleet management systems, Covestone System, and Human Resources Information Systems.
- Ensure smooth application functionality to meet operational demands.
Network Security
- Develop and implement robust IT security protocols to protect company data.
- Manage firewalls, antivirus software, and encryption technologies to safeguard organizational assets.
Data Management
- Oversee data storage, backup, and recovery processes to maintain the integrity and availability of critical business data.
Innovation and Digital Transformation
- Foster an environment that encourages the adoption of modern technologies to improve operational efficiency.
- Lead technology initiatives aligned with the company’s strategic goals, including process automation.
Data Governance and Compliance
- Implement best practices for data governance and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Stay updated with regulatory requirements, including safety and environmental standards where applicable.
Technical Support
- Provide technical support to staff across various departments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT-related issues to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
Budget and Procurement Management
- Develop and manage the IT department’s budget in alignment with organizational priorities.
- Oversee procurement of hardware and software solutions to support operational needs.
Vendor Management
- Manage relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
- Ensure third-party solutions meet performance expectations and comply with service level agreements (SLAs).
Staff Management and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop IT staff to promote a high-performance culture.
- Conduct performance evaluations and identify training and development opportunities for team members.
- Ensure training plans for direct reports are implemented within required timelines.
Compliance and Disciplinary Actions
- Initiate disciplinary processes in collaboration with Human Resources when required.
- Enforce company policies and standards in a fair and timely manner.
Reporting
- Prepare and submit reports as required by management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or an MBA is considered an asset.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in IT management or a similar leadership role.
- Certifications in IT management, business intelligence tools, and data analytics will be considered an advantage.
