- Information Systems Technician (Western Campus)
The Information Systems Technician is responsible for providing maintenance of the computer desktop environment and telephone by analyzing requirements, resolving problems, installing hardware and software solutions and supporting the internal Helpdesk.
He/She will provide basic assistance with administering the University’s Hardware infrastructure and end-user equipment. These facilities include but are not limited to Windows and Linux servers, Access Points, Microsoft Exchange and Wireless Access Points. The incumbent must possess both the technical knowledge required for troubleshooting and the customer service skills.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate will possess:
1. Diploma in Computer Sciences/Diploma in Information and Communication Technology or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Higher Education institution
2. Technical Certification at the entry to intermediate level (e.g. CompTIA Linux Microsoft MCP, Cisco CCENT)
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- At least two (2) years’ of technical experience in an Information Technology environment, with hands-on experience relevant to the specialized knowledge areas.
- Working knowledge of major Operating Systems including but not limited to Linux, UNIX and Microsoft Windows.
- Knowledge of Avaya IP telephony standards and protocols
- Good knowledge of computer hardware configuration installation and operation.
- Ability to analyze systems data in order to identify security infractions
- Ability to troubleshoot computer and telephony hardware problems
- Excellent communication, time management and customer service skills.
