The appointee will perform a range of Industrial Relations activities to the Seprod Group on contemporary human resources management issues, employment and industrial regulations, and workplace reforms.

The Industrial Relations Officer will represent the Group before Industrial Relations tribunals, committees, and resolves disputes effectively and efficiently.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist in the development and revision of strategies to guide the collective bargaining process with unions and         management. Interpret and administer collective bargaining agreements, ensuring compliance with contractual   obligations and employing the established standards to resolve disputes that may arise.

2. Be conversant with local and international labour laws and regulations to ensure compliance. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with labour laws.

3. Advise management on labour law matters, including wage/salary and hour regulations, workplace safety, and discrimination laws.

4.Liaise with management and employees to address concerns, and grievances, and provide guidance and support regarding workplace policies, procedures and regulations.

 5. Investigate performance and disciplinary issues, ensuring fair and consistent treatment and timely resolution of issues.

 6. Manage the grievance process for an amicable and harmonious workplace. Investigate complaints, conflicts/disputes and recommend the appropriate disciplinary action or corrective measures.

 7. Develop and deliver training programs for managers and employees on employment and industrial-related topics. Provide guidance and resources to managers on handling employee relations issues effectively.

       

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management with specialisation in Industrial Relations or other related discipline from an accredited tertiary institution.
  2. Three (3) years’ working experience, in a similar capacity, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.

 

ABILITIES, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Knowledge of the Jamaican labour laws and regulations, including experience with collective bargaining agreements.
  2. Adequate working knowledge of International Labour protocols and standards such as ILO
  3. Experience administering collective agreements in a multi-union environment
  4. Proven experience in employee relations, conflict resolution, and mediation skills
  5. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  6. Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex policies, laws and regulations
