The Industrial and Employee Relations Manager is responsible for designing, implementing and developing the IER strategy, plans, programmes and initiatives at Campari Group.
General Description of the Role
The Industrial and Employee Relations Manager is responsible for designing, implementing and developing the IER strategy, plans, programmes and initiatives which align with and achieve the Company’s business objectives. The incumbent must develop and maintain positive relationships between employees, management, and labor unions. They must ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations, and manage all employee grievances, disputes, and complaints. They must also conduct investigations into employee misconduct or violations of company policies and administer relevant disciplinary actions. They execute Campari’s agenda in the areas of Culture, Employee Engagement, Diversity & Inclusion. The job has been successfully performed when a harmonious industrial relations climate is maintained, there is high employee satisfaction and engagement levels, excellent grievance resolution time and low employee turnover rates.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Develop and implement employee relations strategies aligned with business objectives and legal requirements.
- Act as the primary liaison between management, employees, and unions, ensuring timely and fair resolution of grievances, disputes, and disciplinary matters.
- Partner with HRBPs and other stakeholders to develop and deliver engagement programmes and monitor relevant metrics.
- Champion diversity and inclusion initiatives, collaborating with leadership to foster an inclusive workplace.
Industrial Relations & Collective Bargaining
- Lead collective bargaining negotiations and implement agreements, ensuring compliance with labour laws and company policies.
- Manage risks associated with labour relations, including legal and reputational risks.
- Maintain positive relationships with unions and other stakeholders to prevent industrial action.
Compliance & Policy Development
- Ensure adherence to labour laws, regulations, and collective agreements.
- Analyse and interpret employment legislation and update relevant company policies accordingly.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for grievance handling, discipline, and dispute resolution.
Advisory & Training
- Advise managers and supervisors on employee relations, labour laws, and HR policies.
- Deliver training programmes on effective employee relations practices.
- Provide guidance on proposed workforce planning, productivity, and organisational changes.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Track and analyze employee relations trends to identify potential issues and recommend solutions.
- Prepare dashboards and relevant reports for management and other relevant stakeholders.
Other
- Conduct investigations into misconduct and administer disciplinary actions in line with relevant company policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, or related discipline (or equivalent professional qualification).
- Minimum seven (7) years’ HR experience, including at least five (5) years specializing in union–management relations.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of Jamaican labour laws, industrial relations practices, and collective bargaining processes.
- Familiarity with HR systems and tools for industrial and employee relations management.
- Extensive knowledge of HR trends, grievance and arbitration processes, and compensation principles.
