Industrial Electrician

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical faults on-site and at associated facilities, including single-phase and three-phase power systems.
2. Perform routine and emergency electrical maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operations.
3. Monitor and record daily temperature readings in critical areas, especially the Low Voltage Room, and respond promptly to any irregularities.
4. Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on autoclaves to ensure consistent and safe functionality.
5. Carry out scheduled inspections of electrical systems and equipment in the compressor room and other operational areas using a rotational/roster approach.
6. Monitor the performance and condition of all electrical equipment, identifying potential issues and implementing timely corrective actions.
7. Oversee the operation of emergency generators, ensuring readiness at all times, and monitor fuel levels in reserve tanks to maintain adequate supply.
8. Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection reports, and incident records.
9. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
10. Collaborate with other maintenance and operations personnel to support overall facility performance.
11. Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and breakdowns.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

KNOWLEDGE:

• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including single-phase and three-phase power distribution.
• Familiarity with industrial equipment such as autoclaves, compressors, and generators.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Knowledge of electrical maintenance procedures.
• Knowledge of safety practices.
• Knowledge of safety standards and electrical codes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

• Certification or Diploma in Electrical Installation, Industrial Electrical Systems, or a related field.
• Proven experience [at least three (3) years] working as an Industrial Electrician or in a similar role.
• Wireman’s Licence

OTHER:

• Must be able to work a shift system, weekends and public holidays.
• Available and on-call to address any troubleshooting issues or emergencies that may arise outside of regular working hours
